Relaxation

There are many different ways in which you can allow yourself to relax. In order to attain a state of increased calmness whereby levels of anxiety, stress and tension are reduced, it is most beneficial to take time out for yourself and ‘just be’.

Although focused relaxation takes time and practice, research shows it works and has many benefits so it is important to learn.

In our relaxation classes, we use a range of techniques which are easy to practice anywhere:

  • Focused breathing
  • Progressive muscle relaxation
  • Short focused relaxations sessions
  • Body scans

Meditation

Meditation is very much about making the choice to focus your mind on one thing, object, issue, word or something else relevant at that moment in time. In our classes, we practice releasing the mind from being dominated by the usual mental chatter.

The practice of meditation is essentially very simple indeed, however by practicing regularly for a period of time you will discover just how powerful it can be.

Our techniques can enable you to develop self-awareness, non-attachment, feel mindful and ‘in the moment’. Simply being where you should be at all levels.

With practice, you will be able to simply ‘switch off’ whenever you need to and, should you choose, use a range of activities to enable you to meditate.

Life / Work Balance

We all have different life-styles, families, friends, commitments, and work. We spin plates or juggle balls but we all need balance between everything.

Knowing who you are is crucial for beginning to understand what factors mainly affect your life / work balance and your happiness. Individuals often stifle their natural selves and behave in ways that don’t reflect their true self… Often because of pressure from parents, family, friends, peers or from society in general.

Many people go through life in jobs they dislike, which denies them the opportunity to develop their true talents, strengths and passions. At times we can find ourselves behaving in a way which is not natural to our real self.

Aside from this being stressful in itself, if we deny or falsify our true self we make it very difficult to focus on what is really important for our own happiness.

To counter this, during the Relaxation and Meditation Classes we offer, we explore self-care and how we may achieve balance in our daily lives.

Remember that self-care is not about being selfish, if you look after YOU, you are able to look after others, your career and commitments far more effectively. We also offer workshops from time to time to explore the ways in which you can restore balance in your life.
