Intuition/Gut Feeling/Knowingness our 6th Sense

Intuition/Gut Feeling/Knowingness our 6th Sense

‘…your most valuable tool – intuition’ Albert Einstein

So how often have you thought ‘oh I wish I had listened to my gut feeling’ regretting something that you had gone off and done?

There is much to be said in taking a little time and tapping into that skill which we often deny because we have been indoctrinated with the need to follow our left brained liner processes and go off along ‘the way its always been done’ taught both by educators and others.

Do you listen to those clues you get and the signs that jump out at you?

We all get flashes of knowingness in both our personal and business lives; when did you last listen to what the inner you were saying?  Remember these insights come as feelings, words, thoughts, sensations, dream; or that hunch you might have (I get feelings strongly by ‘listening’ to my intuition which determines who I will work with and what I will do). So take note of your physical and emotional feelings associated with it; whatever form it takes listen to it,

Tuning in to your intuition will take practice as many of us have blocked it over time, just practice, and take a few minutes thinking/feeling each time you need to make decisions.  You ultimately know when something is right or wrong, so trust and accept what answers you get from deep within yourself.  Keep practicing too as it becomes part of your everyday skill set and is a great way to develop your decision making. It’s worth keeping a note of your instincts and the decisions you make and share them with someone that you really trust. You will begin to spot connections and patterns over a period of time.

Through listening to your intuition you can certainly save time, make fewer mistakes and find that you will start doing the right thing at the right time!

If you look back over history, people have always used intuition to survive, it’s only since we became more advanced and moved into a world of technology have we lost track of our 6th sense.

A few tips to get you started:

  • Just take 5 minutes and pay attention to what your thoughts are focused on (mindfullness)
  • Pay attention to synchronicities, signs, symbols and feeling that  emerge regularly don’t dismiss this – ask why!
  • Listen actively & watch for information that is meant for you
  • Ask questions related to you intuition

Have a go and watch how you become more balanced and centred.

Quick, on-the-spot relaxation for busy people

Very useful in the workplace or in the car (not when you are driving!)

1. Sit up and back in your chair so that you feel firmly rooted, legs slightly apart, feet flat on the floor.

2. Drop your shoulders while you take a deep breath, letting it out slowly.  Close your eyes if it helps.  Keep focused on your breathing and breathe in slowly to the count of four – hold to the count of four – breathe out to the count of four – pause to the count of four.  Repeat in an even, comfortable rhythm.  It can help to imagine yourself relaxing more each time you breathe in and the tensions flowing away with every out breath.

3. Now slowly tense, hold, and release the main muscle groups, working up through your body.  Start with toes and feet; tense as much as possible, hold and release.  Move on to calf muscles, thighs, bottom, stomach and upper body in the same way, paying particular attention to the upper back and shoulders, where we hold a lot of tension.  Then work on your arms and hands.  Finally, if you can (some places are just too public), screw up the muscles of your face and neck and release.

4. After this, gently massage your neck and upper spine, then return to focusing on slow breathing and check back through your body for any remaining tension.

5. Finally, check your seating position, drop your shoulders again, and place your hands comfortably on your upper legs and concentrate on the sensation of warmth as it flows out through your hands.

Learning to relax in this way can be invaluable if you get anxious in public places and need to sit somewhere to compose yourself – or for just when you need time-out it is well worth the 5 minutes to put your pen down and completely clear the scrambled thoughts from your brain!

Remember you are worth a few minutes of SELF-CARE

Wellbeing in Business & Life

My first Question – who are the 3 most important people in your life?

Jot down your responses

2nd Question:  Do you have a Life/Work Balance? How do you know?

Life balance and personal happiness do not necessarily depend on earning more money and being successful at work or in business. Other things can have a much bigger impact on our well-being such as Self-Care – Self-Care is not being selfish, it’s about looking after YOU then you can look after your life/family/business more successfully; if you are out of balance then the other parts of your life will be. Obviously these change as you develop/age/once you know the real you and we all need to consider what our own life/work balance means and what it depends on, however this is often forgotten when reflecting and planning in business.  What makes your life well balanced and happy and how do you ensure you include these strategies in your life?

Life Work Balance 50/50 this means is 50% good and 50% S**T so when it is 80% good you are moving towards a winner.

Learn to Tame the Mad Monkeys – all those thoughts that go round in your head – practice mindfulness and being in the moment – get your mind back in charge of your brain

Self Care Strategies which work:

  • Assertiveness and learning to say no
  • Time management/Allocate times to all tasks
  • Listen to gut instinct/knowingness
  • Build in Time for Self
  • No multi tasking
  • Empower others
  • Stay in the moment
  • Manage your energy – take breaks
  • use your diary Smarter…..

Top tips:

  • Freeze-unfreeze: several times a day say to yourself ‘freeze’ stop and check your tensions, posture and get yourself into a more relaxed position then say ‘unfreeze’ this can combat headaches, back/shoulder ache and much much more.
  • 3 min rule – if it can be done in 3 minutes do it, its amazing how much can be got out of the way.
  • Self-care checklist – try to do at least 3 nice things for yourself every day – then add up at the end of the week if you have done a minimum of 21 lovely things just for you….that’s your challenge.

Answer to question 1 is that you should have written SELF first as if you don’t look after YOU then are you looking after everything else as well as you could be?

Succeeding in your Goals for Business

To achieve your vision in life/business is all about setting goals, it’s the first place you need to start.  Clear small steps will enable you to very slowly, move towards each of the goals you set, however you do need to remember that before you move from one to another to take time to reflect on each goals’ outcome as you may need to do a bit of tweaking.

By doing the right thing at the right time, and beginning with small, easy wins, you will put yourself on your pathway to becoming successful.

Building your goals into achievable triumphs will develop your self-confidence as you continue to grow. To do this, consider building on any knowledge and skills you have by bringing them together to facilitate succeeding in whatever it is you set for you and your business.

Reviewing your goals and identifying the skills you’ll need to achieve them will enable you identify where you might need support, guidance, and help.

Undertake both a Personal and Professional SWOT analysis Strengths; Weaknesses; Opportunities;Threats

Really work at ways you can acquire new skills be innovative and strive to be the best you can at any given moment.

Focus on the basics, when you’re setting your goals don’t try to do to much to soon, keep it simple and remember there is no such thing as perfectionism – just get pleasure from the journey keeping each goal simple and uncomplicated and thus achieving them – celebrate each goal as you achieve it. Each goal will build on the next and before long your vision will be materialising.

More challenging goals may need to be broken down in order for you to achieve them but take them a segment at a time.  Keep remembering to reward yourself (even 10 minutes in the sunshine so you can switch off helps)

Keep managing your mind and those mad monkeys that try to sabotage your positive thinking – by taking one task at a time, you are less likely to make mistakes, more likely to remain in the moment and your positive mental images will stay with you.

Stay on top of that positive thinking, keep celebrating and enjoying success, and keep those mental images powerful.  There are time when all may not go as you want it to, learn to reflect on it and then move on taking what knowledge you need to ensure it does not happen again and say ‘thank you’ for the lesson seeing it as a positive rather than a negative outcome.  Remember the old saying ‘if it doesn’t kill you, it makes you stronger!’

One of my new workshops coming up will be focused on goals ‘Confidence in growing your business’  watch out for it on my website

And Finally………………………
Take time for YOU, Your Needs and then go on to Create YOUR Future.

Spring Equinox – Clear the Clutter in your business

Its been a busy couple of weeks with clients asking for crisis mentoring and it got me to thinking about what was going on….then it hit me it Spring Equinox; “so what” you may ask…well we are animals and as such we are driven/guided by the seasons, however as we have been so well conditioned into forgetting our inner knowingness and or innate sense of what we need we rush about without consideration for SELF.  This applies as much in our business life as well as our personal life.

How often do you listen to your inner self? Something may trigger off a thought, your intuition/knowingness, your inner self is alerting you to ACT, why don’t you? What gets in the way?  It’s a great idea to jot down the blocks which stop you; it could be fear, anger, selfishness, complacency, confusion, every day pressures; whatever it is take time to examine it and reflect on where you want move onto its time well worth spending. Then set about planning HOW you will do it, and ‘do the doing’.

My clients recently just needed an objective ‘sounding board’ to work through what they needed to do, we discussed the clutter and blockages some of which were self-imposed, set action plans in place (which are movable!) and they went off to continue their journey feeling lighter, more objective & certainly empowered.

I encourage clients to use a wide range of techniques to clear their blocks and these include; blue sky thinking, thinking outside the box even if it sound outrageous its worth considering (think Richard Branson!), being mindful and honest about what they are feeling, ensuring they take thinking time on a regular basis, good old fashioned play & imagination can enable you move forward and help you work with that right side of the brain where your Imagination is lodged and a side we often forget is key to our being in BALANCE:

Here are a few questions I would ask you to consider:

  •  What activities within your business make you happiest?
  • Identify 3 occasions at work when you have felt most alive, most empowered and most ‘YOU’
  • If you found yourself in prison what would you continue to do no matter what?
  • If you could do anything with the business what would it be?
  • Do you hang onto certain aspects of your business you don’t need?

Be honest and then clear out what prevents you moving forward and achieving your DREAM – let me know how you get on…Nothing is set in stone…..it is your journey and you fly your plane your way and in your time

Until next time
